S3A: FUTURE SPATIAL AUDIO FOR AN IMMERSIVE LISTENER EXPERIENCE AT HOME
The S3A project is a research collaboration between internationally leading experts in 3D audio and visual processing at the Universities of Surrey, Salford and Southampton and BBC R&D. The partnership aims to unlock the creative potential of 3D sound to provide immersive experiences to the general public at home or on the move.
This event focuses on the object-based production workflow from a technical and creative viewpoint through conversations with experienced sound designer Eloise Whitmore (Naked Productions), demonstrating how the freely-available S3A production suite can be used to create audio content that is immersive and personalised.
This new science-fiction drama was created specifically to take advantage of extra connected devices to tell a story. You can listen to the piece just like a normal audio drama, but the experience gets better as you connect more extra devices, unlocking immersive spatial aspects as well as extra hidden content.
